Evenos is a river of Etolia whose source is in the Pindus. The parents of the associated river-god are Ocean and Tethys or Ares and Demodice according to Apollodorus. Prince Evenos threw himself into the stream after failing to catch up with his daughter, Marpessa, abducted by Idas on a winged chariot.
